Configure Network and IP Address Allocation

Create a Network Policy and select 5 Branch Routing in the workflow.

You can allocate VLANs to subnetwork spaces, defining management, internal, and guest networks. When ExtremeCloud IQ uploads the network policy to routers with these VLANs assigned to their Ethernet ports, it also assigns the subnetwork space to those ports.

This task is part of the network policy configuration workflow. Use this task to configure network and IP address allocation settings for a network policy.

  1. Go to Configure > Network Policies.
  2. Select an existing network policy, and then select Edit, or select Add.
  3. After you save the Policy Details, select 5 Branch Routing.
  4. From the Router Settings menu, select Network Allocation.
  5. In the Network Allocation section, select Add to create a new VLAN-to-subnetwork mapping.

Alternately, select Import to use a CSV file.

  6. Choose a VLAN from the corresponding Select menu, or select New to define one.

To add a VLAN, see Configure VLAN Settings.

  7. Choose an existing subnetwork from the corresponding Select menu, or select New to define one.

To add a subnetwork, see Add a Subnetwork Space.

  8. To map a VLAN to more than one subnetwork, select Add, and then either choose an existing subnetwork or define a new one.

This action is helpful if your deployment expands beyond your original estimates and you must add a new subnetwork for the additional branch sites. By keeping the VLAN the same, you maintain the same user profile-to-VLAN relationship in your existing configuration, regardless of differing IP address spaces. ExtremeCloud‌ IQ assigns address scopes to branch sites from the next subnetwork after it uses all of those from the previous one.

  9. Select SAVE.
  10. In the IP Allocation section, select Add to configure IP allocation settings.
  11. Select a Branch ID for the router from the corresponding Select menu.
  12. Select the Serial Number of this device from the corresponding Select menu.

ExtremeCloud‌ IQ automatically displays the host name for the router.

  13. Select a subnet entry from the corresponding Select menu.
  14. Continue to configure BRANCH ROUTING settings, or select NEXT to apply the network policy.
